Helping Your Child Value Others

Appreciation Exercise

With today’s hectic lifestyle, it’s easy to take family members for granted. Try this simple exercise as a reminder to demonstrate value to each member of the family:

Grab a pen and paper, then ask your family to gather at the table. Choose one family member and go around the table, having everyone else offer one thing they value about that person. Write down all the responses. Repeat the exercise until everyone has had a turn at being “valued.”

Next, discuss the responses. Point out that everyone has value, regardless of age or ability.

Close with a time of prayer. Ask God to bless each loved one by name.
