Nurturing Your Child’s Spirit

Your Family’s Faith or Beliefs?

Most of us grew up with some form of family faith tradition or belief/unbelief system. Did yours give you a sense of security and stability? Did it yield guilt and confusion? Was there a combination of both?

In your view, does God truly care about you? Is a relationship with God desirable — or even possible? Assess your childhood faith.

Whether we like it or not, we pass on our spiritual perspective to our children. So assessing what we believe and what we want to pass on to them is to our advantage. Otherwise, we will simply pass on what our past taught us, good or bad. Or we will let a teacher, friend or someone else do it for us.

What do you want your family’s faith tradition to look like? The good news is, we can do it! There’s a lot of good material available to help you figure it out and journey with your family to understanding God.
