Finding Easter in Bunnies and Baskets
Fill an Easter Basket with God’s Good Gifts
Instead of just filling your children’s Easter baskets with candy treats, fill them with items that will symbolize all the good gifts that God has promised to give us. You may want to add these items to their regular basket, or you may want to have a special basket set aside Easter morning just for these “good and perfect gifts.”
Let the children guess what good gift each of these things might represent.
- A crown — the crown of life (James 1:12)
- An eraser — God’s forgiveness that erases all our sins (1 John 1:9)
- A small doll pillow — God’s comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
- A miniature house or picture of a house — a special dwelling place in heaven (John 14:2)
- A little telephone — the gift of prayer (Ephesians 1:13)
- Shield — protection (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
- Bag of plastic jewels or coins — treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:20)
- Light bulb — the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16)
- A box of matches or a little flashlight — the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13)
- Paper or candy heart — a new heart (Ezekiel 11:19)
- A mini adoption certificate — adoption as God’s child (Ephesians 1:5)
- A mini diploma — wisdom (James1:5)
Be creative. Add some of your own ideas based on God’s promises in Scripture.
