Movie Night With Your Teens
Little Women Talking Points
-
The sisters give their Christmas breakfast to a needy family and do so
without complaining. Jo sells her hair to pay for Marmee’s travel
expenses. How can you give to the needy? Read 2 Corinthians 9:6-11 for a
promise from God on sacrificial generosity.
-
Meg gives in to peer pressure and compromises her modesty by letting the
girls make her up for a party. When Laurie challenges her uncharacteristically
flirtatious behavior, Meg says, “I was only playing a part.”
But she realizes he’s right and that it reflects poorly on her. Talk
about the lesson Meg learned.
-
Which sister was your favorite and why? Which was your least favorite
and why? What about the men they chose as husbands?
Follow-Up Activity
-
Create a “family newspaper” to send out with your holiday
greeting cards. Let each family member choose a “story” to cover
from the past year. If someone in the group isn’t fond of writing,
invite that person to design the page. You can start working on it at any
time and watch it evolve as the year goes on.
-
Is there a needy family you can adopt as the Marches adopted the Hummels?
Can you think of creative ways to help and encourage them? Consider leaving
an anonymous gift of add-water cookie mix, coupons for a local movie theater,
fast-food gift certificates, etc. Pray about who to choose and what to do.
God may even offer you a chance to share Jesus or invite them to church.
Just for Fun
Since Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel was first published in 1868, Little
Women has been translated into 30 languages, proving that universal themes
