Movie Night With Your Teens
Filter Techniques
When you find a movie made for teens and adults that doesn’t have something
unnecessary in it, you’ve found something rare. Your DVD player’s
remote control can be your best friend when a wholesome story tosses in an unnecessary
scene or two. Skip ’em. Mute ’em.
In the case of Quiz Show, there’s no scene to jump past, but disappointing
language pops up unpredictably. That’s when TV can be the answer. When
a movie airs on TV, the network will censor a lot of the profanity. Take these
opportunities to record movies so you can enjoy the edited versions.
You can also rent a movie that has been edited by a company like CleanFlicks.
Or you can purchase software that filters profanity on the tube. There are a
number of products on the market, some from Christian manufacturers.
Preview each film before you have a movie night with your children. Not only
will you be better prepared to jump past material that warrants a click of the
remote, but you’ll also have a healthier grasp of the talking points before
you engage your teen.
